Interlibrary Loan Service

ILL Borrowing for Current USC Law School Members

The USC Law Library can obtain information resources in print and/or electronic format via the interlibrary loan document delivery option. Our library's interlibrary loan service is available only to current USC Law students, faculty, and staff. We provide this service free of charge. Patrons can access our ILL request page on the USC Law Portal's Library section page. Whenever an item that you need is not available at any of the University Park Campus USC libraries, you can submit an ILL request online to secure an original/duplicate copy of that item. We can also obtain materials from USC's Norris Medical Library for your convenience. Please see our ILL Borrowing Policies webpage for further details on how our interlibrary loan process works.

ILL Borrowing for Other USC Members

Other library patrons within the University Park Campus USC community must contact IDD, central USC Libraries' Integrated Document Delivery service, to place interlibrary loan requests. USC members at the Health Sciences Campus must contact Norris Medical Library's interlibrary loan service, DocRetriever.

ILL Lending to Other Libraries

USC Gould School of Law Library is a SHARES-group OCLC member.
Our OCLC symbol is ZZX.

• ILL Lending Policy
  We will fill ILL requests for SHARES and non-SHARES OCLC member libraries that pay via the IFM option, and/or for those with whom we have a reciprocal agreement to exchange library materials free of charge. We use the OCLC-based WorldCat Resource Sharing (WCRS) module to process interlibrary loan requests and prefer to receive ILL requests via OCLC's WCRS and/or ILLiad systems. However, we will also accept requests via fax, mail and/or ARIEL.

  Please note that we cannot accept ILL requests for items held at any other University Park Campus USC libraries. To request materials from the main USC Libraries, whose OCLC symbol is CSL, please contact IDD. To request materials from USC's Norris Medical Library, whose OCLC symbol is CSZ, please contact DocRetriever. We do not accept individual requests from patrons of other libraries. Individuals should contact their respective libraries to submit an ILL request to the USC law library.

    • May be renewed once, for additional three weeks, if not recalled
  • Fees for Loans to SHARES OCLC-member libraries
    • $10 per item
  • Fees for Loans to non-SHARES OCLC-member libraries
    • $15 per item
  • Fees for Copies Sent via Ariel, E-mail (.pdf), and/or Mail
    • $10 (minimum charge) flat fee for the first 10 pages, $.25 per page thereafter
    • No charge for transmission/postage
  • Fees for Faxed Copies (Domestic Libraries Only)
    • $2 per page, $10 minimum charge
