Reciprocity Policy

USC Law School is located in the heart of a large metropolitan area with a highly competitive legal market. As such it has become a target for many law school graduates from other states, many of whom want to use the resources of the Law School's Career Services Office in their job searches. Our reciprocity policy is designed to fulfill our primary responsibility to serve USC Law School students and graduates, while still offering employment information to job candidates from other law schools. Requests for use of the Law School's Career Services Office from persons who received an undergraduate degree from USC who are enrolled at other ABA-accredited law schools will be evaluated on a case by case basis per law school.

1. SERVICES are available only on a one-to-one basis. We will allow one non-USC student or graduate to use our office for every USC student or graduate granted reciprocity at another school’s career services office. Note that access will not be permitted to USC’s Career Services Office if the requesting student or alumnus/ae is currently receiving visitation privileges from another Southern California area law school.
2. RECIPROCITY is granted to Students/Alumni of other law schools for a period of two months on the following basis:
   1. Access to the Career Services library and resources.
   2. Online Job listings access (This service available only in-office).
   3. Counseling services are not available.
3. REQUESTS for reciprocity services must be made in writing by the student's or graduate's law school Career Services Office via fax, email or regular mail at least two weeks prior to any visit. We will respond in writing if the request has been granted or denied. An address for the student/alumnus/ae must be provided. Individuals appearing in our office without a request letter in hand will not be granted services. The student/alumni must call ahead to confirm office hours and availability and to confirm that the letter or request has been received. Students must identify themselves when they come in to the office and may be requested by the staff to provide identification.
4. SUSPENSION of services is effective from January 2 to February 28 and July 1 to November 18 of each year. No reciprocity requests or services will be granted during this period.
